Magic Cards

12/22/2016

Magic cards have been on my "To-Make List" for a long time, so I am excited to try them in our next VIP Club!  Who wouldn't want a card that looks plain and simple and transforms before their eyes with color and surprise!  We'll be making three cards using the Jar of Love, Sheltering Tree, and Botanical Blooms stamp sets.  A couple other must haves for this technique:  Window Sheets, Archival Ink, and the Project Life Dies.

Before

After

Now how did I do that?
Well, thankfully Stampin' Up! has a full channel of videos to inspire us card makers!
What do you think?  Magic, right!

Valentine's Day Shaker Card

2/10/2016

Have you ever wondered what to do with the edges of your Dimensionals? Make sure you don't throw them away!  Normally, I use my Snips to cut them up and use as smaller dimensionals, great for adding dimension to something small!  But, they also make great strips to use when making a shaker card!

Next, choose your background piece.  I chose this embossed piece from the Memories in the Making Project Life Specialty Card Collection free during 2016 Sale-A-Bration.

After I lined the card with dimensionals, I added some sequins I had left over from the December 2014 Paper Pumpkin kit, plus I pulled some off the Gold Sequin Trim.

Next, I picked one of the cards from the Project Life pack.  It comes with 30 specialty cards in the colors of Basic Black, Daffodil Delight, gold, silver, Tempting Turquoise, Watermelon Wonder, and white, including a selection of acetate cards with metallic ink.  I chose the heart, but the dimensionals were visible underneath, so I added another card with gold trim on top.

Next, I used leftovers from the January 2015 Paper Pumpkin kit to add those strips behind, adhered on to a piece of Rose Red cardstock, and then stamped the greeting from the And Many More stamp set.  A fun card, perfect for Valentine's Day!
