  1. New Die Cut & Embossing Machines!  Yes, you read that right, plural!  Stampin' Up! will have two sizes of machines in the new catalog, but neither will be available to order in June.  Stay tuned for more information.  Think more compact for traveling & easier to understand the plates!
  2. New adhesives!  I am excited about a replacement for Fast Fuse and love how two strengths of tape will fit in the same dispenser.  But I am also excited for adhesive sheets and foam sheets (to use before die cutting)!
  3. Beautiful Designer Series Paper:  I think I plan to order every pack of DSP!  Think wood, maps, and ferns, cats, dogs, and whales!
  4. Fun Alphabet Dies: Think uppercase modern font with duplicates of more common letters for less die cutting!
  5. Bundles: Think birds' nests, sunflowers, chocolate, plaids, jars, the list goes on!

Did you know if you join Stampin' Up! during May, you can choose any $125 worth of products for $99 (and free shipping)?  But what's better, you can choose from 88 new products from the upcoming catalog!

Going, Going...

Stampin' Up! has announced which products are retiring before the new Annual Catalog starts June 3rd!  Click here to see which products are retiring and get them before they are gone, while supplies last!

Here is my Top 5 List of products I am surprised or sad to see go!
  1. Snail and Snail Refill: It looks like the refills are already sold out, but never fear!  Stampin' Up! is coming out with new adhesive!  Think: one dispenser for two kinds of adhesive, one stronger than Snail, and one stronger than our previous Fast Fuse.  The cost is higher, but more adhesive included.
  2. Glimmer Paper: We currently have 4 colors, and all are retiring!  Rose and Silver on on sale, so get them soon!
  3. Basic punches:  Sadly, many of the circle punches are retiring, probably because we have circle dies.  I won't be parting with mine!
  4. 12x12 Memory Keeping:  Sadly, it looks like Stampin' Up! will only be carrying the 6x8 size starting in June.  The 12x12 album is on sale and while supplies last, but the pages are already sold out.  You can, however, find other pages elsewhere to use this album.  I love mine for documenting my Stampin' Up! trips, which sadly are being cancelled left and right due to the Coronavirus :(
  5. Bonanza Buddies bundle:  I have so much Designer Series Paper with these cute animals on it, I don't plan to part with the stamps and dies yet!  I love how the dies can cut out the images on the paper.  Plus, these are so great for kids' birthday cards!

SCRAP Challenge Completed!

5/3/2020

During the month of April 2020, while the world was on lockdown for the COVID-19 crisis, I decided to use my time by using up my scraps!  I had originally scheduled a Scrap-A-Thon, but when I had to cancel that, I decided to do it on my own and challenge myself.

Here is the BEFORE and AFTER of my scraps!  I started keeping them in this IKEA bin which is great, but they were getting buried.  So I used them all month and now plan to organize them by category in these drawers from Amazon.  I plan to share more when I get around to recording a video of my craft room.

One Sheet Wonder

3/17/2020

Who doesn't love the idea of making 14 cards using up only one sheet of patterned paper?  We are trying this oldie but goodie One Sheet Wonder technique in VIP Club this month.
  1. First, choose a sheet of 12 x 12 Designer Series Paper.  I chose the See a Silhouette DSP.
  2. You can find lots of different templates online, but I used this template by Michele Boyer.  I converted the template into a pdf which is easier if you plan to print.
  3. After you cut the DSP, add the pieces to thick Whisper White card bases.
  4. Once your piece of DSP is cut, then you'll want to mat the DSP on solid cardstock.  Check the colors used in the pack of DSP to know what colors of cardstock to use. See a Silhouette DSP is Blackberry Bliss, Crushed Curry, Daffodil Delight, Flirty Flamingo, Mango Melody, Mossy Meadow, Night of Navy, Old Olive, Pacific Point, Poppy Parade, Real Red, and Rich Razzleberry.
  5. You can use any sentiments you want, but we used the Thank You die, Word Wishes dies, Good Morning Magnolia stamp set,  Well Said stamp set, and the Band Together stamp set.  Here are the 14 finished cards, numbered 1-14!

As part of the VIP Club, we normally make 3 cards, free with a $25+ order.  So since we are making 14 this month, I asked members to provide their own envelopes, white ribbon, and rhinestones, if desired.  And as always, you'll need your basic adhesive to assemble.

If you want to try out this technique, I have extra packets all cut for you!  Just let me know if you would like one to pick up at my house in Indianapolis during this time of quarantine.  Your packet is free until the end of March with a $25+ order on my website using this host code at check-out:  H62NMQGB.  Plus, don't forget it's still Sale-A-Bration, so choose a free item when your order is $50 or more!

Fancy Folds Always a Favorite!

2/20/2020

This month in VIP, we made Fancy Fold Cards.  I have a board on Pinterest of ideas I want to try...when I have time to get around to them.  I always like to follow YouTube videos since I am a visual learner and it helps figure out if I am folding the right way!  Here are the three cards we made with the tutorials we followed.

Pop-Out Panel

Picture
Beware, this card uses a lot of paper!  And instead of stamping and die cutting like in the video, we just fussy cut out the images from the Birthday Bonanza DSP.  I also skipped all the presents on the front and went with a (retired) simpler Happy Birthday die cut. For this card, the Birthday Bonanza stamp set works great, but also make sure to have some liquid glue!

Mini MiUra

Picture
This card requires 12 x 12 cardstock, but you can make two cards out of one sheet.  Stampin' Up! sells 12x12 cardstock in variety packs, by color family.  The only colors we sell individually are Whisper White and Very Vanilla, which I realized I was out of when I started prepping this card!  So we went with a Flirty Flamingo base to coordinate with the Lily Impressions DSP, free right now with a $50 order during Sale-A-Bration.  The fun of this fold is having butterflies "fly off the card."  So make sure you have some butterflies to add!

Triple Slider

Picture
For this fun fold, we pulled out retired coffee stamps and paper to make a fun design.  Once again, you need 12x12 cardstock for this, so we used Early Espresso.  Just make sure you have a trimmer, tear & tape, and a ruler for this card!

Whitewashing in VIP

1/27/2020

The VIP Club made cards this month using the whitewashing technique.  It's a pretty simple, yet stunning technique.  All you need is white craft ink and an aqua painter!  For all three cards we made, we heat embossed the image first, so a heat tool, Versamark, and embossing powder would also be helpful.  Oh, and don't forget an embossing buddy to reduce the static and keep the powder where you want!
Here are the 3 cards we made:
Picture
I love how this card turned out using the Happy Birthday To You stamp set which you can get for free during Sale-A-Bration when you place a $50 order. I used Pretty Peacock cardstock which proved to be a great option to make sure the whitewash popped. In the background, I used  Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint using the aqua painter.  The cake was heat embossed in white and then after whitewashing, added rhinestones to the flowers.  The cake was cut out using dies coming February 4th, while supplies last through Sale-A-Bration.  Stay tuned!

For the second card, we used the Good Morning Magnolia stamp set and heat embossed in gold on Crumb Cake cardstock.  Crumb cake seems to be the best color for this technique.  We whitewashed the magnolia then sponged with Petal Pink ink using a sponge dauber.  Such a beautiful card CASEd from Linda Dalke if you want to check out her video.

And for the last card, we used the Accented Blooms stamp set, heat embossed in white on Rich Razzleberry cardstock.  The sentiment was stamped  in Pretty Peacock, and then punched out using the coordinating Tailored Tag punch.  In the background, we used a piece of the Lily Impressions Designer Series Paper, free with a $50 order during Sale-A-Bration.  The card base was using Call Me Clover cardstock.
If you need any of these products to try out the whitewashing technique, now is a great time to purchase an Stampin' Up! starter kit and get some products for free!  From now until March 31, 2020, choose $125 of any products for just $99.  Plus get free shipping, a free Paper Pumpkin kit, free paper sampler pack, free trimmer, and a free stamp set of your choice!   Contact me to join my team!

the IN Stampers Take Lansing!

On Friday, November 15, I took a road trip up to Lansing, Michigan for the OnStage Stampin' Up! event.  We had about 18 of us, between the IN Stampers and the Vintage Rose team from Illinois.  Pat & Maureen rode in my car and we arrived in time for me to attend CentreStage, an event for leaders where we had a buffet, got the new catalogs early, received a gift, and got to celebrate with others.

On Saturday, the event lasted from 9am-5pm, but of course we got there early to swap!  It was fun to go with so many ladies who were attending an event for their first time, especially watching them win Prize Patrol!  We got to see so many sneak peeks, and then could place an order of new products early, 2 months before the catalogs go live on January 3!  At the end, I volunteered for clean-up duty before heading to dinner at Claddaugh's.  After dinner, our group headed back to the Quality Inn to participate in a Shoebox Swap until midnight...well past my bedtime, but worth it!  Next event I will be attending is in May, location to be announced, and then New Orleans in August, another event for leaders.  So grateful for these opportunities to travel for "work"!  Check out my pictures below!
