This month's technique in VIP Club was marbling. We had fun, got a little dirty, and made three cards using different variations of marbling.
We started with an easy marbling card...just use the new Marbled stamp set in the catalog! I love the look of black and white marbled together. The Lemon Lime Twist card base and Bermuda Bay ribbon from the Clearance Rack makes it pop! The sentiment comes from the Soft Sayings Card Kit, popped up with my new Starburst Punch. |
Then we tried marbling using, yep, marbles. I borrowed a few from my kids' game chest and was able to create this fun background. Just add 5 marbles to a full wide stamp case, plus 5 drops of reinker in one or two colors, close the lid, and roll the marbles around. Then, open the case, use snail to tape a piece of 4x5.25" cardstock to the top, close the lid, and roll the marbles around on the paper. |
And to create this marbled look, also known as the shaving cream technique, you'll need some more reinkers and some shaving cream from the Dollar Store. Just add a layer of shaving cream to a tupperware dish, spread out with a palette knife, add a few drops of reinker, and then smear around. I used Soft Sky, Bermuda Bay, and Island Indigo. Next, just add your card front to get covered in the shaving cream, remove and wipe off with a paper towel. The blue background looks like water, so I couldn't help adding a mermaid from my new Magical Mermaid stamp set. |
