After much anticipation, I finally got my hands on Stampin' Up!s new Envelope Punch Board which was released in September and quickly went on backorder. Mine arrived last week and even my husband was amazed (If you haven't seen it in action, check out the youtube video on the link above)! I decided to try this new tool along with a new technique: stamping with Painter's Tape. This is a super, easy technique all over Pinterest and the internet. I watched demonstrator, Mary Fish, use this technique and you can see her video below. After making my own version of her beautiful card, I moved on to a coordinating envelope. In my short time playing with my new Envelope Punch Board, I discovered a few things:
- Creating your own envelopes is a good way to use up some old cardstock and paper lying around. To make an envelope to fit the cards I make (5.5 x 4.25), you need an 8x8 sheet of paper. I even have some old 8x8 paper pads laying around collecting dust, so now they will be magically converted into envelopes!
- Secondly, If you are using cardstock to make an envelope, you will want to use Sticky Strip (not your regular adhesive like Snail) to adhere the flaps.
- Thirdly, washi tape over the closed flap adds extra adhesion, but also a cute finished look.
- And lastly, if you plan to seal the envelope at a later date, amazon and Archiver's sell an adhesive called Envelope Gum that you can lick at a later time, like a traditional envelope.
